Here you can use your imagination and express yourself artistically. At Grotius College, we pay a lot of attention to art and culture, both in the curriculum and in the extracurricular programme.

In the junior school, Art and Culture are central to the curriculum. This is particularly reflected in growth days, but also during regular educational meetings. In the upper years, there is also a focus on cultural heritage. As a student you can then choose between the examination subjects Art Visual Arts and Art Music in the upper secondary school.

We aim to offer a high level of art, both in the curriculum and in excursions and projects. Therefore, we work a lot with guest lecturers and cultural partners from the region, such as Schunck Glass Palace, Parkstad Limburg Theatres, Nieuwe Nor, Theater Laagland and Opera Zuid.

Cambridge

Cambridge

In addition to our regular English classes, Grotius College offers Cambridge English, starting from the second class within a separate curriculum. Many of our students later end up in places where English is the language of instruction. Already during internships and studies abroad, you experience that an average command of English is not always enough. If you want to be able to keep up in a world of internationalisation even after you have left secondary school, you need.

Not only abroad, but also at Dutch universities English is taking an increasingly important place. Lectures are increasingly given in English and theses and dissertations are increasingly written in English. The same applies to presentations. It goes without saying that proficiency in high-level English is a big advantage in this respect. The University of Cambridge has therefore developed a series of English language skills courses and exams that are internationally regarded as standards. The corresponding diploma’s are called Cambridge Certificates. The two best-known diploma’s are the so-called Cambridge English: First (FCE) and the Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE).
